So I watch The Biggest Loser, along with many other people in the
world, and something occurred to me the other day when I was sitting
around the fire pit rejecting a s'more. Temptation Challenges...they're
always HUGE in the show and life isn't always THAT bad. For example,
last week, the contestants had a choice to eat a full plate of donuts so
they could select which time of day their team would work out (the
winner ate 37!!!!!). When in real life are you going to be tempted with
eating 37 donuts? Probably never, but there are real life decisions we
make in regards to food every day.
One thing for me is a
seasonal thing that comes around EVERY October...and no...it's not
Halloween. It's Monopoly at McDonald's. What is it about those little
pull tabs? The possibility to win instantly a NEW CAR?!? Or money to
help my family get out of debt or finish our portion of the house? I
don't knowexactly what the draw is for me, but no matter what's going
on, I always fail to McDonald's in October. I've eaten there 3 times in
the last 4 days and my body hates me. The temptation there? Exchange
my diet for fun and the possibility to win (btw...the only thing I've
won is a medium fries and 60 coke points...).
Another temptation
that gets me every time, and I'm sure it gets you too, is family
eating. Whether it's at home or eating out. Everyone else is
eating...can you resist the temptation to eat, too? Or what about when a
family member goes out of the way to get something deliciously sinful
JUST for you? What about then? Lately, I've been having a lot of big
family meals, mainly because Nick, Bear, and I are living out at The
Barn and the family has been eating like they normally do. Oh...there's
always a healthier way to eat, but who can resist the bread? The
rice-a-roni? The pasta? The cake, cookies, and ice cream? Maybe I can
now that I've gotten behind why I give in all the time.
Off topic:
I'm
searching for a job in either Monroe, Redmond, or Kirkland, WA. I'm
interested in Administrative Assistant positions or Assistant
Teacher/Helper positions in day care. If you know of anything, please
let me know.
I hear ya on the McDonalds thing, I just like playing the game regardless of what I win.
